Sunrise

I am not a morning person. No matter how hard I try, I have always been & will always be a night owl. I remember reading one time that you’re genetically predisposed to be one or the other & I believe it. Unfortunately, once you have kids, & especially once they start school, life couldn’t care less about your genetic predispositions.  So, I’ve learned to like coffee. Or rather, I’m learning to. Cinnamon creamer helps. I also have a new game plan this school year to try & help me make the most of the fact that I have to get up at 6 am. I won’t bore you with the details, but the number one thing to making my mornings worthwhile is getting dressed right away. I did it this morning & look at me, I did a photo shoot & now I’m blogging it. How’s that for taking control? I wasn’t planning on doing a photo shoot, but the foggy sunrise was so pretty & my hair looked halfway decent, so I figured, why not? Seize the day, indeed.

Okay, so maybe I started out looking a little grumpy;)

I went to Chicago with my friend, Hollie, a couple of weeks ago. We hit up Anthropologie before heading to Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba for Tapas & then the Be Crafty Workshop thrown by Amanda Rydell & Shop Sweet Lulu. All in all, a pretty great day. I fell in love with this dress at Anthro as soon as I put it on. It’s practically seasonless. Wear it like this for spring & milder summer days & then throw on tights for fall & winter. I already tried it on with a pair of boots & I can’t wait. I also have a pair of blue wedges (last seen here) that are going to look pretty fab with it too. Perfect.

Finn decided to get in on the action. Obviously he isn’t going by my rule of getting dressed first thing in the morning.

Coffeeeeeee. Also, I’ve had this belt for about a million years. I bought it back at the height of Sienna Miller and her fabulous boho phase. I’ve never totally given up that look, if I’m being completely honest here.

I started out the shoot wearing these insane (in a good way) gladiator sandals from Joyfolie. Unfortunately, they need a different belt to work & I wasn’t in the mood to go searching. I’d already brought down my other shoes, just in case the gladiators didn’t work. I thought I’d show them to you anyway. It’s also crazy how fast the light changes during the sunrise.
